This account is, as the name (I can't believe "FictionMule" wasn't taken already) suggests, an alternate account for fictional works. This is because I am trying to maintain a certain type of deviation in the gallery of my main account, ~iyp080284, and did not want my fiction to have to get shoved into the 'Scraps' of that account.

Important note: I hate, hate, reading over my own fiction. It's like being stabbed in the eye with a glowing-hot spike by tiny men who are mad at me for eating their friend (bonus points if you get the reference). It's nearly as much of an ordeal to write the stuff, too. I rather hope that the interest (if any) shown to this account will encourage me to write more - I need practice writing and want to have a finished product despite hating the process.

Most of the fiction, particularly the prose, is based on Dungeons & Dragons in one way or another. Why? It's a ready source of inspiration and can be a good backdrop. I'm trying to get a sampling of styles out in these first four deviations, but all of them are from D&D originally.

These first pieces are, as I said, a sampling. I want to see how much interest each generates. The novel section is most important to me but also the hardest to develop. The journal is about half-finished and is a sort of testing ground for the novel writing. The poem is there to break up the monotony of my prose, plus it's much more elegant. The character backstory/description is there partially to show how I develop these things, but also because I can't draw. A distinct lack of talent in the visual arts means that my characters are always confined to text. If someone wanted to, and asked me, I would probably be very flattered if someone made some kind of art using my character descriptions (hint, hint). By the same token, I might be willing to write backstories or descriptions given a general character concept or drawing.

We'll see how it goes.

Edit: Rather interesting - I am now over 100 pageviews and still no one has commented on any of my stuff. I understand that many of those hits probably come from me (when I forget to sign off the other account before visiting here), but still there is a certain... discouraging factor. Lol. Perhaps I really am as bad a writer as I think. Oh, well. ^^

Edit (5/29/07): Took a lot of pictures over the past couple of days. Some are really nice, so I want to put them in a main gallery somewhere - so in the alternate account they go! I love my camera, not least because it takes huge photos (5.1 Mpixel, an average of 2MB each). I think the real value in a lot of the pictures is the detail you can get by looking at them in their huge, full-viewed/downloaded glory, so I encourage that for anyone looking at the stuff. As far as writing fiction goes, I feel like I should hold off on that until I write at least one essay for my main account, but it may be coming in the near future, who knows?
